I would expect the pad to be very good. I have three different camping pads and usually just go car camping and not do the backpack thing (though I would like to soon perhaps). Regardless, I find that sleeping on the ground with a quality pad (Mine are an Eddie Bauer and a Timberrest) to be no big deal. There are quick set up tents at a good price that might serve you better than the back of your Subaru. I used to sleep in the back of a van with a foam cushion and the ground was always better. One more thing. The use of a foam pad under a camping pad is good as a camp pad can slide around on a tent floor some, too.

However, in my experience with the Lightweight series pad, it lacked the comfort I expected since it is bulkier and heavier than the majority of more expensive lightweight pads. It also takes much longer to inflate, because they use thicker material. Now I just loan that pad out to first-timers or people who don’t own equipment and use my expensive pad. It is both comfortable, 1/3 the weight, and much quicker to inflate. Of all the products over the years I’ve used, the price makes a huge difference in quality for pads compared to other stuff.
