I have been wanting to hike Carver’s Gap for awhile now and finally got there a few weeks ago. Still snow up there, not much. Weather was beautiful but on Grassy Ridge it was bitter cold, the trees where iced over, snow in spots and the wind was brutal. The only area of our hike that I had to put on a jacket and hat and broke out the Hot Hands. We didn’t realize that we were looking at Grandfather Mountain, but kept wondering what that structure was. In fact, another couple that passed us, asked us if we knew what it was.
