After reading this post, me and my fiancé (beginner hiking enthusiasts) decided to tackle this trail yesterday. I have torn my ACL and meniscus in my knee and so we decided to cheat and take the road to the northern trail head. Well, we got a hike anyway because the bridge was washed out and we were forced to take the last ~2 miles on foot before reaching the trail head. Although it was a little awkward getting to the falls with a limp, it was totally worth it! We got heavy rains two nights ago, so there was a ton of water coming up over the falls and the water was icy cold. Thanks for the post!

Great write-up and photographs Jeff. Courthouse Falls is next on my list and I am trying to decide between driving to it or taking the hike that you did.

some beautiful shots of those waterfalls. I love getting long exposures of flowing water…but I never want to pack in a tripod. *sigh*
