Looks like most of the rain will be out by the morning, with a brief shot in the late afternoon. Do you think the river crossings will be really bad after all this rain? Also, just a head s up: I think you need to try hiking the trail from Black Mountain Campground to Mount Mitchell one day, it is 12 miles round-trip.

Mark, I use the Trimble Outdoors Navigator app on my smartphone to record the GPS track as I’m hiking. That is then uploaded to the Trimble Outdoors website for public access.

I took a different , shorter route that came from above the falls. It was a steep climb down and back up, requiring some provided rope climbs. The parking was along side the road up where the YMCA camping facilities were. Sounds like you had quite a time with Cold Springs Branch!!
