Produced a performance analysis of an enterprise 840 iSeries server for a major medical insurance carrier. Recommended tuning and configuration changes that improved batch turnaround and throughput, enhanced availability, and added consistency to interactive response.
Created an Intranet for analysis and reporting of key enterprise computer system performance measurements for a network consisting of 115 HP/UX servers and a user base of 8000. Allowed for quick reaction to problems and trends preventing unnecessary expenditure as well as increased productivity. HTML, graphics, BEST/1, SAP R/3, HP/UX 10.20 & 11.0 64-bit.
Developed corporate computer disaster recovery plans for eight AS/400 and two S/370 enterprise computer systems. Prepared procedures, tested plan at a designated hot site four times every year, trained personnel, documented staff activities, and executed periodic simulations. Assured business continuity for a major corporation.
Designed and developed a departmental Intranet containing hardware and software inventories, system performance reporting, computer operator procedures, disaster recovery procedures and security administration facilities.
Consolidated three corporate VM S/370 computing centers with annual savings of $800,000. Simplified operation and eliminated redundancy. Planned, tested, and executed the merger. Trained and monitored operations personnel. Merged office and database management systems, and system support software.
Consolidated seven AS/400 midrange systems saving the corporation $420,000 annually. Coordinated a team of programmers and operators. Integrated systems from six states, constructed network configuration and backup/recovery scenarios, and trained support personnel.
Managed and administered the corporate electronic mail network. Oversaw delivery of 35,000 messages average per day across seven unique e-mail applications. Established e-mail interconnection with more than 40 external corporate partners via X.400.
Installed and maintained Operating Systems for two IBM VM mainframes, eight IBM AS/400 and four IBM S/36 midrange computers. Performed system administration and security activities, performance measurement and tuning. Configured and maintained the communications networks.
