I had hoped to. I had good intentions.
Getting up at 5:00AM, about 75 minutes earlier than I usually do, I bundled up
against the 31 degree temperature that fell over Morrisville through the night, and
went out in my backyard. I had a great view across the golf course.
No one else in my building seemed
interested in bright, cascading heavenly bodies. I was the only one out and about.
Or maybe they knew from experience.
Except for two streaks I saw out my window
when I got up to pee about 2:30, I didn't see anything moving in the sky. Not even
any cross country red-eye jetliners. What a disappointment.
The sky was clear. I was looking in the
right direction. I did have the correct day ... right? Same thing happened to me last
year. Got up in the middle of the night to ... what? ... freeze my buns off.
No more Leonids for me. That's OK, they
say they won't be back until 2037 or something like that anyway. I'll probably be in
a nursing home by then. Shoot, if I keep losing sleep I'll be in a home next week.
