This multi-talented Australian

send along some thoughts for the

Your response for the
Diabetes Walk has been quite fulfilling.
With your help, I've already exceeded
the individual goal set by the walk committee. I can't thank you enough ... and I'm
sure the American Diabetes Association
thanks you as well.
No need to stop yet though. The walk
isn't until September 7th, so you still have plenty of time to add your name to my
list of sponsors.
Since I've been doing about three and
a half miles every evening for a year, I said sure, why not. This evening I did the
extra mile and a half to see what it would be like ... and I'm no worse for wear.
So on September 7th I will be walking
for Diabetes. The American Diabetes
Association organizes fund raising walking events throughout the country. They
are having one in my new community next month.
The folks at my new job are putting
together a corporate team and asked me to join in. Since I'm brand new to the area,
and the company, I thought it was a nice opportunity to get involved.
As for diabetes ... it killed my college
roommate and my mother-in-law. My best friend's mother suffers from it now. The cause
is one I can relate to. The charity is worthwhile.
Problem is, I don't know anyone in the
area that could sponsor me. After all, I've only been living here four days. It would
feel kinda awkward introducing myself to the new neighbors, and oh by the way, can
you give me some money.
As you can see, I need help.
If you think you might be able to help,
write to me and I will respond with
more info about how you can sponsor me in America's Walk for Diabetes. The suggested
donation is $10. That isn't much.
